Check out the function and effects of vaspin content in the body!

Vaspin, also known as Visceral adipose tissue-derived serine protease inhibitor, is a newly developed adipocytokine that is related to insulin sensitivity and obesity content in humans. This was expressed even in pancreatic islets, stomach, hypothalamus, and skin. This content is significantly higher in females in comparison to males and with age and pubertal stage, the effect associated with this increases to a great extent.

In case of obese girls, there was lower vaspin serum levels, but there was no such correlation with body mass index. Rather, it was associated with better insulin sensitivity, higher systolic blood pressure and impaired endothelial function. Hence, it can be seen that with glucose provocation during the period of oral glucose tolerance test, vaspin serum levels decreased to a great extent, almost by 25%.

Effects of the presence of vaspin:

People who had diabetes with coronary artery disease had higher levels of vaspin than general type 2 diabetes patients, or those devoid of heart issues. Due to clogging of arteries by plaque, proper blood cannot be received, which can cause death.

Vaspin expression in the pancreas and liver may contribute potentially to circulation of  vaspin levels and their regulation. Primarily, vaspin levels monitor insulin in case of adults, however, its effects can be found in case of children as well.
